The EV EasyOne web stabiliser is a product whose development has specifically taken into account the challenges found at the beginning of the single felted dryer sections on any paper or board machine. Traditional air nozzles of the stabiliser across the machine in the critical opening nip have been replaced with a high release nozzle manufactured to extremely high tolerances. Air is blown at high speed through the high release nozzles against the running direction of the fabric. Due to the geometry, the construction of the stabiliser and the dynamic forces created by the airflows, a negative pressure is created in the opening nip. This negative pressure ensures the web sticks to the dryer felt and not to the cylinder surface. Comparable, targeted production and quality levels can be reached with good web stabilisation at even lower web tensile strength after the press section. Both the savings in raw material costs and an increase in production rates can be taken into account when calculating the payback time for such an investment project. MAINTENANCE FREE CONCEPT The EasyOne Concept™ is maintenance free. There are no mechanical sealings between the stabilisers and the dryer fabrics. There is no actual contact between WORLD PULP&PAPER 53 By Panu Ärölä, Marketing Manager, EV Group Oy A solution to sheet instability problems the stabiliser and the dryer fabric regardless of the installation. Therefore, no damage or mechanical wear to the dryer fabrics can occur. This enables enormous saving in consumables and no need for extra shut-downs. The stabilisers installed, together with vacuum rolls, enable ropeless tail threading from the press section into the first double felted dryer groups. Existing bottom row dryer cylinders or rolls can be converted into vacuum rolls by on-site drilling in case not connected to a vacuum system already. The drilling and balancing of the cylinders can be done in situ without removing cylinders from the paper machine. This reduces the shut down time required for this kind of complex rebuild. Vacuum in the drilled Traditional air nozzles… have been replaced with a high release nozzle manufactured to extremely high tolerances Sheet instability at the beginning of the single felted dryer section can often lead to productivity problems such as the number of breaks, long tail threading times, and unnecessarily high draws. EV EasyOne concept™ by EV Group could be the solution to significantly reduce such occurrences. Tailor-made and applicable to different dryer section geometries, it can also be a useful tool for upcoming rebuild projects. SHEET INSTABILITY SOLUTIONS Figure 1. EV EasyOne concept.
